Municipality of Henties Bay business tourism centre

The new Municipality of Henties Bay Tourism and Business Centre was conceived through the need to boost the local economy, tourism and create employment for the locals of the coastal town of Henties Bay.

The design concept for the Centre was derived through consultation with the client who indicated that the new Centre should be integrated into the existing sand dunes plus borrowing some elements from a shipwreck and also inspiration from the surrounding natural and architectural landscapes.

The design employs organic forms with the materials chosen to cope with the harsh and corrosive weather conditions that prevail at the coast.

The Tourism and Business Centre houses vending stalls, a museum, coffee shop and a tourist information centre all creating a stunning ambiance in which the visitor is better able to appreciate the history and beauty of the coastal town of Henties Bay while providing a platform for tourist to engage with the Namibians.
